ROSAMOND — The latest in a series of large residential developments in the Rosamond area received preliminary approval from county supervisors Tuesday.
Located at the southwest corner of Rosamond Blvd. and 40th Street West, the 142-acre development includes plans for a shopping center with a grocery store and other retail outlets on 17.78-acres.
Sherry DeLano, general manager of the Rosamond Community Services District, said the district will provide water and sewer service to the development. A “will serve” letter from the district specifies that an additional water source will be required to provide sufficient water for the project.
DeLano said RCSD is attempting to purchase land for additional wells.
Access to the property will be provided from Rosamond Blvd., 40th and 45th Streets West, and Astoria Ave.
Restrictions
County planners are requiring that structures in the development not exceed 35-feet to not interfere with operations at the nearby Rosamond Airport.
Although the property has been used for farming in the past, it is currently fallow. Nearby development includes a mobile home park, and a residential subdivision.
The project is the latest in a growing number of residential developments planned for the Rosamond area. DeLano said the district is working with another developer on a 100-home project near 35th St. West and Orange.
